The Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank reported revenues of $343,165 for the business week ending on Friday, Oct. 21, 2016. The land bank receives its funds from a two per cent fee charged on many Vineyard real estate transactions.
Much of the land bank revenue last week came from the town of Edgartown, where five transactions resulted in $128,100. Eight transactions earned $87,770 in Oak Bluffs. Six transactions earned $72,645 in Tisbury. Two transactions earned $26,400 in Aquinnah. Two transactions resulted in $16,100 in Chilmark. And one transaction earned $12,150 in West Tisbury.
The land bank uses its revenues to purchase and manage land for purposes of conservation, preservation and passive recreation. To date the agency has participated in the purchase of more than 3,243 acres of Vineyard land.
