A West Tisbury woman is facing drunken driving charges after a single-car crash Monday in Edgartown that injured two people.

Police said Christy Dobson and her passenger were transported to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital Monday night after the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica SUV she was operating crashed on Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road near 14th street North.

According to a press release from the Edgartown police, officers and rescue personnel were called to the scene at 8:30 p.m., where they found the vehicle resting on its side against a tree. The occupants got out of the vehicle on their own, police said, and sustained obvious injuries.

Police said they determined Ms. Dobson lost control of the car in part because of ice and snow on the road.

Ms. Dobson, 36, was later released from the hospital and arrested, police said. She was charged with drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and marked lanes violation. She was arraigned Thursday in Edgartown district court.

The passenger, Shane Harthcock, 35, of West Tisbury, was admitted to the hospital for treatment, police said. A hospital spokesman said Tuesday afternoon that he had been admitted to the ICU; on Thursday afternoon hospital officials said he was still being treated.
