The storm over the weekend left many branches and trees falling across the Vineyard. Wind gusts were in the 60s with a steady rainfall. Amazingly, many lawns are still very green due to the warm weather and rain we have experienced lately. Temperatures are falling to a more seasonal state.

Welcome to Tribal Leaders and EPA Staff from around New England who are in Aquinnah for a three-day conference sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency and hosted by the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) and tribal Natural Resources Director Bret P. Stearns. The conference is being held in the newly opened community center. At long last, the building is almost completed but in its present state appears to be well worth the wait. Truly impressive. Thank you to Durwood Vanderhoop and many others for staying on course over the years to complete the center. The conference is being catered by Theresa Manning of Quitsa Cuisine and her associates Jamie Vanderhoop, Meg Athearn and Scott Mullin.
