It rained for two and a half days straight over the weekend, never letting up but grateful that it was not a major blizzard as the temperature remained in the 40s. Tuesday was a beautiful day with sunshine. It will be unseasonably warm over the next few days with perhaps another light snow. Spring is getting closer. The spring thaw has been occurring for the past week or more.
Families are getting ready for school vacation. West Tisbury students are looking forward to the annual ski trip.
Jennifer Burkin will instruct an Acrylic Painting Workshop at the Aquinnah Town Hall at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17. On Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. is After School Club, and at 5 p.m. Connie Hyde will lead the knitting group.
Martha’s Vineyard Community Services continues to hold programs of great interest. Stem Saturday, (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) will take place the third Saturday of the month and each month will have a different theme. The theme for this Saturday, Feb. 17 is Magnetism. Classes are from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the MV Family Center, Fanny Blair Building on North William Street in Tisbury.
Speaking of science and engineering, congratulations to Finn Monahan for his second place award in the 2018 Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School Science and Engineering Fair. Finn’s project was on sports drinks vs. orange juice and the electrolyte count in each. Congratulations to my summer time assistant Dash Christy for his project on aerodynamic houses.
Ed Conroy parties on Feb. 16; Ava Stearns will party on Feb. 17; Mark Tyler Seawell and Linda Toland will party on Feb. 18; Rose Marie King Roberts parties on Feb. 19; and My great grand-daughter Olivia Marie Sims will be 10 years old on Feb. 19.
