With the derby under way, the Aquinnah selectmen agreed last week to suspending parking permit requirements at Lobsterville Beach.

Police chief Randhi Belain brought the matter before the selectmen’s meeting on Wednesday.

“We’ve done it in the past, and it would most likely be a good idea to do it again,” he said. “I think it’s a little bit of a gesture of good will on our part.”

Parking rules will remain in effect at Philbin Beach and the Aquinnah Circle.

The derby began on Sunday and ends Oct. 13.
