The Turkey Whisperer reports that yes, definitely, daylight savings time has finally worked into my turks' schedule. Feeding at my Turkey Alley Cafe has been changed to 9:30 a.m. for breakfast and 3 p.m. for early supper. They want to be hunkered down by the ridiculous new time of the sunset. Or, as Yogi Berra said, “It gets late early out there.” Such a fun weekend! The party for Tim DeFelice, who needs a new kidney, was a success. If you could not attend and want to make a donation let me know. Stephen Hart Music Band and the Ululators held the audience enthralled at Katharine Cornell Theater Saturday night. And the Don Grooverfest fundraiser for his medical bills was a rip-roaring party at the P.A. Club on Sunday night.

Now another Islander needs our help for her beloved General. Angel Naphtalie Aiguier is relocated in Cambridge. The Ghetto Peoples Band, Toussaint the Liberator, Naya Rockers and a bevy of other reggae groups will entertain you at 450 Mass. ave. in Cambridge on Sunday, Nov. 25 from 6 to 10 p.m. If you cannot make it to hear the music please donate to their fundraising page. This is also for medical issues. There is a timely meme on social media that says it appears GoFundMe pages have become our health care in the United States. This is an inadequate solution to universal health care.

Judith Campbell, our former Unitarian Universalist minister on Island, had another book signing last weekend. She was over in Plymouth. I have a few signed copies of her Olympia Brown series. What a treat!

My young summer neighbor, Lillian Beal, is now in her second year at Lesley University. Nothing would do but for mom, Kimberly Stokes Beal, to travel to Cambridge on Lillian’s birthday and take her on an excursion to the Hundred Acre Woods and study all things about Winnie the Pooh, A.A. Milne’s 1926 classic. Kim has the best ideas for entertainment. Speaking of entertainment, our first Poetry Cafe was so much fun at the Vineyard Playhouse last Thursday evening. The next one is on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. This time the poets will be Margaret Emerson, Jennifer Smith-Turner, Justen Ahren and Steve Ewing. I have not heard the ladies’ work yet. I have read some wonderful poetry by Justin. But Steve Ewing’s energy and poetry have captured my heart. I’ll see you there. Kathryn Harcourt at the Tisbury School wants you to prepare for the annual Scholastic book fair. It will run this Nov. 26 to Nov. 30. The theme this year is the Enchanted Forest Book Fair. Store hours will be in the school library from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. There will also be some pre-K and grownup books available. This is always a great way to shop for the holidays. Funds raised go to more additions for our kids’ media center.

Time is getting short for Handmade from the Heart, our annual hospice fundraiser. If you have anything you made you can donate, please consider hospice.

Eileen Maley’s new book, No Fixed Address, is lovely. Bunch of Grapes is having difficulty keeping it in stock.

If you can attend the debate at the PAC on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m., please go. I cannot picture this but the debate whether or not to switch our playing fields to plastic grass is being reopened. When do we learn? Plastic is the ruination of the environment. Follow the money. I’ll see you at the meeting.

So many get well wishes to extend! Our warmest thoughts go to Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Mikey Waters, Barbara Beichek and Steve Nichols.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along with Mary Afton Crandall on Nov. 7; Dennis Von Mehren and Arthur Ferro celebrated on Nov. 8; Lillian Beal claimed Nov. 13; and on Nov. 14, Mardell Francis and John Gardella take the cake. Many happy returns.
