Winter is nearing an end with less than 50 days to go. The sun has been bright over the past week in Aquinnah with spectacular sunsets. Temperatures are predicted to drop over the next few days and a forecast for snow.
Again I spilled liquid on my laptop computer and all I could do was scroll on my Facebook page for a week.
Coast Guard station Menemsha is appreciative of all the support they have received from not only those on the Vineyard but across the country in their time of need. Due to the uncertainty of the federal government, your support is still needed. Donations can be sent to Coast Guard Spouses Association of Menemsha, 20 Edy’s Island Way, Chilmark, MA 02535, or dropped off at Station Menemsha. There are donation boxes at Menemsha Texaco, Martha’s Vineyard Community Services, Chicken Alley Thrift Shop, Tax Matters, the Edgartown police department and Stop & Shop in Edgartown.

Sincere condolences to family and friends of Conrad Neumann who died this week at his home in Durham, N.C. Conrad and his wife Jane enjoyed their summers at their Chilmark home with their children and grandchildren. It was always a treasure to sit and learn from Conrad. His stories were fascinating, his humor even more so. He was a multigenerational friend of our family. I will forever cherish my autographed copy of Up Island Poems.
Congratulations to Samuel and Laura Hart on the birth of their first child, Alexander Stanley Hart who was born at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital on Jan. 27. Alexander is also welcomed home by his maternal grandmother Heather McQueen who has been with Sam and Laura in Aquinnah for the past few months awaiting the arrival. Heather is from St. Andrews, Scotland. On Alexander’s paternal side, his ancestors extend over more than two centuries on the Vineyard.
