Adult Community Education of Martha’s Vineyard (ACE MV) in partnership with the Vineyard Power cooperative announced this week that they received a $65,000 grant from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center for a workforce training program on the Island.
Vineyard Wind, the New Bedford-based company proposing the wind farm, has said it will employ up to 40 technicians on the Island at the proposed Vineyard Haven operations facility.
ACE MV programming director Jeannine Lenahan said the adult education nonprofit will collaborate with Bristol Community College to offer night classes to both adult learners and high school students. ACE MV recently relocated its offices from Vineyard Haven to the regional high school.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for students to help pioneer a brand new industry,” Ms. Lenahan wrote in an email.
She said they hope to offer courses beginning next fall.
