Sandra Maciel, 48, Was Lifelong Island Resident

Sandra Lee (Pease) Maciel of Edgartown died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. She was 48.

She was the daughter of Elizabeth (DeMello) Pease-Marshall and Jonathan S. Pease. Born on Feb.4, 1954, in Oak Bluffs, she was a lifelong Island resident and attended Island schools. She lived in Vineyard Haven and moved to Edgartown 27 years ago.

Mrs. Maciel worked at the Clarion Inn for five years as a housekeeper until her disability. She also worked for the Edgartown Commons and the former Katama Shores Inn. She had previously worked as a home health aide.

She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth's Church and enjoyed crafts and hosted knitting parties.

Mrs. Maciel's father predeceased her. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Arthur Marshall, both of Bridgewater, N.H.; her daughter, Ann Marie Pearson of Lisbon, N.H.; three sisters, Clara Ann Marshall of Oak Bluffs, Alice Correia of Littleton, N.H., and Brenda Petle of Tilton, N.H.; three grandchildren, Steven T. Maciel of Needham, Elizabeth A. Pearson and Jenna M. Pearson, both of Lisbon, and her loving companion, Michael Figueiredo of Vineyard Haven.

A graveside service will be held at Edgartown's Old Westside Cemetery, on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 11:30 a.m. Donations may be made in her memory to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are under the care of the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home of Oak Bluffs.
