Gladys Morgan, 81, Was Island Summer Resident
Gladys Morgan, 81, formerly of St. Clair, Pa., died peacefully on Friday, Nov. 8, at the home of her daughter, Diane Cake, and son in law, Edward Cake, in Colonial Heights, Va. She also resided at the Edgartown home of her son, William Morgan, and daughter in law, Kathleen Morgan, where she summered since 1977. She and her family lived in Pottsville, Pa., for 48 years until April of 2000.
Mrs. Morgan was a Girl Scout leader; retired secretary of Trinity Lutheran Church; an honored volunteer for the Good Samaritan Hospital, and an avid knitter and golfer. She was dedicated to her grandchildren, Heather Haas and her husband, Christopher, of Simsbury, Conn.; Jason Morgan and his wife, Jennifer, of Hingham; Edward Cake 5th of Colonial Heights, Va., and Matthew Cake of Richmond, Va. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Andrew, Eliza and Zachary Morgan and Madeline and Benjamin Haas. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter, and her son, Gary.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville, Pa., at a later date with her beloved friend, Pastor Bendle, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Hallock Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3rd and Arch street, Pottsville, PA 17954.
