Laurence E. Hoggan Was Executive in Advertising

Laurence E. (Larry) Hoggan of Oak Bluffs died Wednesday, Dec. 4, after a brief illness at the Martha's Vineyard Hospital.

Mr. Hoggan was born in New Haven, Conn., in 1917 and was graduated from Duke University in 1939. He was active in advertising in New York city until moving to Milford, Conn., where he established his own advertising agency, Creative Services.

He retired to the Vineyard in 1972, where he pursued his life-long love of golf, fishing and philately (stamp collecting).

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine (Hofmann); a son, Peter Hoggan and his wife, Jennifer of Lawrenceville, N.J.; two daughters, Laurie Jones and her husband, Bruce, of Warren, Vt., and Christina Schultz and her husband, Neil, of Arlington, as well as nine grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in the spring. Donations may be made in his memory to Martha's Vineyard Community Services, P.O. Box 369, Vineyard Haven, MA 02568. Arrangements are under the care of the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs.
