Eleanor Taylor, 84, Was Proprietor of Restaurant

Eleanor C. (Ellie) LaBelle Taylor, 84, of New Bedford, formerly of Westport, died Dec. 11 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility after a brief illness. She was the widow of Dr. Morrill Padelford, Henry Perry and Charles W. Taylor Jr. She was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Archie and Josie M. Dow LaBelle, and had lived in Westport the greater part of her life before moving to New Bedford.

She spent many of her early years on Martha's Vineyard, where she was remembered as one of the "LaBelle girls." She was the former owner and operator of Frosty Cottage Restaurant in Oak Bluffs. She worked as head supervisor at the Westport High School cafeteria for many years, and later owned and operated Ellie's Restaurant in Westport. For a time she worked at P.J. Kelly's Restaurant in Dartmouth.

She is survived by her stepchildren, Barbara Orff of Florida, Shirley Zamoida of New Hampshire, Gordon Taylor of New Hampshire and Carol A. Mosher of Westport; a sister, Mildred D. Briggs of Jensen Beach, Fla.; a godchild, Jo Ann Briggs of Martha's Vineyard, several nieces and nephews and her dearest friend, Mona MacNaughton of Dartmouth. She was predeceased by her sister, Beverly Andrews.

Graveside memorial services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport.
