David Elliot Brown, 72, Was Oak Bluffs Native
David Elliot Brown died in Las Vegas, Nev., on Jan. 1. He was 72 years old and had been ill for only a week.
Mr. Brown was born in Oak Bluffs on Dec. 13, 1930, to Maurice and Teresa Anderson Brown. He attended school in Edgartown, leaving to join the Air Force. He served in Korea and later in Vietnam, completing his 20 years of service at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas. He lived in Las Vegas with his family from that time until his death, working in the security business. He was a member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria, and his children from a previous marriage, Teresa O'Dell, Catherine Draling, Robert Brown and David Brown, all of Las Vegas. He also leaves his sister, Patricia Brown of Edgartown, as well as seven grandchildren, a niece and two nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Joan Doucette of Danbury, Conn.
Funeral services were held at the Palm Funeral Home. He was interred with military honors at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nev. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
