Henry Vickers, 75, Was Veteran and Financier
Henry G. Vickers of Edgartown, formerly of Wellesley Hills and Medfield, died on August 8 at the New England Medical Center in Boston. He was 75.
Mr. Vickers was a former CEO of Vickers Associates of Huntington, N.Y., as well as a partner in the investment banking firm, Vickers Brothers of Wall Street.
Mr. Vickers served his country with pride in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a graduate of Harvard University, Class of 1952 as well as a former member of the Harvard Club, the Hasty Pudding Society and the Harvard Faculty Club. Along with his career in investment banking, Mr. Vickers held interests in real estate development and served as the New England regional director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) during the Reagan administration.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Bailey-Vickers; his sons, Henry Vickers Jr., and his wife, Lee, of Scituate, and Timothy C. Vickers and his wife, Pamela, of Mansfield; a daughter, Emily M. Vickers of Cambridge; his stepchildren, Hanley W. Clifford of Edgartown, Linda C. Nyren of Medfield and John E. Clifford of Edgartown; six grandchildren; his brother, James S. Vickers of Florida, and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 14, at St. Paul Church, 502 Washington street, Wellesley. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. The family will receive visitors at the J.S. Waterman & Sons Funeral Home, 592 Washington street (Route 16), Wellesley, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to The Neely House at T-NEMC 750 Washington street, Box 0716, Boston, MA 02111. Arrangements are under the direction of J.S. Waterman & Sons Funeral Service in Wellesley.
