Barbara Stantial Dean Was a Native of Boston
Barbara Stantial Dean died in Santa Rosa, Calif., on Friday, August 22, at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Her loving family was at her side.
Mrs. Dean was born on Sept. 28, 1924 in Boston. She was a member of the Ebell International of Long Beach, the March of Dimes working with youth, Pink Ladies of Long Beach Community Hospital, the University Club of Long Beach, an active member and leader in the Girl Scouts of America and the Long Beach Mounted Police Auxiliary.
She is survived by her son, Robin, and wife, Martha Dean of Morrisville, N.C.; daughters Bonnie (and David) Goss of Bellingham, Wash., Kerry Wyckoff of Spanish Fork, Utah, Wendy de Pentheny O'Kelly of Santa Rosa, Calif., and her sister in law, Dorothy H. Dean of Long Beach, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, Lindsay, Justin, Andra, David, Shannon, Mike, Scott, Becky, Karen, Tracy, Chris, Michele and Rex; 10 great-grandchildren, Sonja, Nikalaus, Matt, Tyler, Drew, Kylie, Kelsey, Briley, Sydney and Hannah. She was married to Norbert W. Dean for 35 years until their divorce in 1981.
Interment and a memorial service will be in Chilmark Cemetery at a date to be announced.
