Jean Y. Eppers, 67, Was Senior Center Volunteer
Jean Yvonne (Moore) Eppers of Oak Bluffs died Thursday, Nov. 27, at the age of 67.
She was born on Jan. 24, 1936 in Dallas, Tex., to Jack Moore and Mary Jean Thompson. Jean lived in Garland, Tex., and was married to Kenneth Doyle Eppers, who died in 1994. After his death, she moved to Martha's Vineyard, the Island she visited and loved, and made many dear friends.
She was graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended North Texas State University in Denton, Tex.
Jean was a bookkeeper for various businesses on the Island and for the building department for the town of Oak Bluffs. She also worked for Stop and Shop part-time as a cashier.
She enjoyed volunteering at the Oak Bluffs senior center.
She is survived by her three children, Kenni-Jean Rose of South Carolina, Kenneth Doyle Eppers Jr. and Karen Lea Eppers, both of California; five grandchildren, David McKissic, JanDe Nicole Eppers, Taylor Allan Eppers, Chase Norton Eppers and Paul Edward Norman 3rd, and her aunt, Vivian John of Dallas, Tex.
Her funeral service will be held in the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road, Oak Bluffs at noon on Friday, Dec. 5, officiated by the Rev. Kenneth Campbell. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Bluffs. Donations may be made in her memory to Friends of the Oak Bluffs Council on Aging, P.O. Box 1379, Oak Bluffs, MA 02557.
