Robert Palmer, 48, Was Veteran of U.S. Navy
Robert Benjamin Palmer of Sandwich died on Monday, June 21, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Liisa Maria (Fager) Palmer, to whom he was married on June 18. He was 48.
Mr. Palmer was born in Kansas City, Mo., on June 23, 1956, the son of Robert B. Palmer Jr. of Mississippi and Mary K. (Allison) Rose of Sandwich. He was raised and educated in Missouri. Thirteen years ago, he moved to Massachusetts from Biloxi, Miss.
Mr. Palmer was employed as a salesman for Pro-Insulators of Boston and Martha's Vineyard until his illness in February. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served from 1974 to 1975 during the Vietnam era. Mr. Palmer was a friend of Bill W. He was a spiritualist and attended First Spiritualist Church in Onset.
He was a member of the Portuguese-American Club, and his special interests and hobbies included karaoke, art, photography, spiritualism, metaphysics, Native American culture and history, music and cooking.
In addition to his wife of three days, he leaves a daughter, Lily Ulfelder of New Ipswich, N.H.; two stepdaughters, Lacey and Noelle Fager, both of Onset; a sister, Rebecca Wilson of Illinois -- and among his many dear friends, John and Tracey Volkman.
Private services will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, with the Rev. Sharon Ferarro officiating. Interment will follow. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. A public memorial service at the First Spiritualist Church of Onset will be held at a later date.
