Ronald W. Rose, 76, Was Marine Corps Veteran

Ronald Wayne Rose of West Tisbury died at his home on Sunday, Sept. 12. He was 76.

Ron was born in West Allis, Wis., on April 16, 1928, a son of the late Elmer A. and Mildred V (Ogren) Rose. Ron grew up in Quincy and was graduated from North Quincy High School. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and proudly served his country. He was a graphic arts teacher at Vesper George School of Art in Boston.

Ron moved to Martha's Vineyard in 1973 and soon afterwards helped manage Edgartown Auto Body Shop. He was a resident of Chilmark for 21 years before moving to West Tisbury.

Ron loved to garden and grew heirloom tomatoes as well as other plants. He loved animals and frequently contributed to animal causes.

He is survived by his nephew, Eric Rose, and his wife, Ellen, of Fair Lawn, N.J.; one niece, Karen White, and her husband, Peter, of West Brandywine, Pa.; eight grandnieces and grandnephews, and his longtime business partner, Dominic A. Scordino of West Tisbury.

Graveside services were held in the West Tisbury Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14. Donations may be made to the MSPCA, P.O. Box 2097, Edgartown, MA 02539.
