Samuel Pirie Fuller

Samuel Pirie Fuller, 67, died Christmas morning of hypothermia after falling from his boat into Baltimore harbor.

He is survived by a daughter, Karin Tiffany, and a son, Samuel, both of Baltimore, Md. He was predeceased by a son, Edward.

He was born in New York and spent childhood summers at West Chop, where he developed a lifelong love of sailing. He had just completed a solo sail on his beloved Rhodes from Chicago across the Great Lakes, the Erie Canal and the Hudson to New York, thence to Baltimore.

He was trained as an engineer and worked variously for Bethlehem Steel and Bechtel in the Baltimore area. Later he went into business on his own developing real estate. Always attuned to computers, at the time of his death he ran en eBay site selling surplus materials.

He was the son of the late Julia Fuller of Vineyard Haven and grandson of the late Samuel Fullers of West Chop. He leaves a sister, Katherine Jaschke of Tallahassee, Fla.; a brother, James, of Vineyard Haven, and many cousins including Constance Sanborn of Vineyard Haven.
