Elinor Eddy Borden, 82, Truly Loved Falmouth

Elinor E. Borden died peacefully at age 82 on Jan. 27 attended by her son, Robert and daughter in law, Sandy Borden thus ending her 14-year siege by Alzheimer's Disease.

Elinor was born in Boston, the only child of Emily and John Lodge Eddy Jr. Her childhood home was in Milton. She attended Beaver Country Day and graduated from Milton High School, class of 1940. She attended Stoneleigh College in Rye Beach, N.H.

Elinor married the late Robert L. Borden in Kansas City, Mo. in 1943 and they moved permanently to Falmouth in 1945. Since childhood, Eley had summered on the Cape and moving to Falmouth was really "going home" for her. She truly loved Falmouth and enthusiastically embraced her surroundings. While enjoying the beaches, oceans, woods and fields, she felt committed to giving back. Her lifelong contributions of service included St. Barnabas Church, Cub Scouts of America, the PTA of Falmouth, Falmouth Hospital Auxiliary and the Falmouth Heights-Maravista Improvement Association.

Eley loved to ski, both downhill and cross-country, swim, bike ride and walk her dogs on the beach. Eley was truly a caring friend to many.

Eley is survived by her son Robert and daughter in law Sandy Borden of East Haddam, Ct., her daughter Sandra L. Jenkins of Ossining, N.Y. and her daughter Susan and son in law Ted Amazeen of Martha's Vineyard, and her four grandchildren, Eric and Rachel Jenkins and Samuel and Jennifer Amazeen.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 1 from 10:15 until 11:15 a.m. at Chapman, Cole and Gleason, 475 Main street, Falmouth , followed by a funeral service at 11:30 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Chapel, Main street, Falmouth.
