Roberta Carol Rang, 51, Was Volunteer for Literacy

Roberta Carol Rang, age 51, of Vincennes, Ind., died on Feb. 21 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

Roberta was born in Washington, Ind. on April 5, 1953 to Dr. Robert H. and Marcella Peterson Rang. She graduated from Washington High School in 1971. She attended Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis., and received a degree in paralegal studies from Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, Iowa. Roberta lived in Iowa, Minnesota and Florida before moving to Vincennes in 1997. While in Vincennes she volunteered for Laubach Literacy Action Program, teaching adults how to read. She worked at Wal-Mart before becoming a receptionist for Goodwill Industries. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Washington, Ind.

Cherishing her memory are her father and stepmother, Dr. Robert H. and Connie Rang; her sisters, Elizabeth (Betsy) Holcomb of Edgartown, Holly Rang of Ashland City, Tenn. and Lisa Greenwell of Washington, Ind.; her brothers, Dr. Jim Rang of Newburgh, Ind., John Rang of Washington, Ind., Dr. Stuart Miles of Louisville, Ky., and Paul McCafferty of Kenasaw, Ga.; her uncles, Dr. Clifton Peterson of Kenosha, Wis., Ray Peterson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Calvin Peterson of Badger, Iowa and Dr. William Schafer of Washington, Ind.; also many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marcella Peterson Rang, and three aunts, Berneace Cataldo, Margaret Toft and Barbara Rang Schafer.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Washington, Ind., with Father Dennis Latta officiating. Interment will follow at Sugarland Memory Garden.

Visitation will be at the Gill Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, and on Saturday, Feb. 26, from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
