Elizabeth J. Berube, 86, Devoted Life to Family

Elizabeth Julia Rooney Berube died Saturday at the age of 86 in Fairfax County, Va., where she was residing.

Elizabeth Berube was born in Hyde Park in Boston on Feb. 20, 1919. She devoted most her adult life to raising her five children alongside her husband Rodney Dubois Berube, now deceased, of Edgartown.

She had participated in senior programs including the Vineyard Haven senior center. Elizabeth leaves behind her five children, Robert Berube, Jane Davis, Jacqueline Lindberg, Judith Berube and Peter Berube, her sister Florence Rooney Chapman, and her brother John D. Rooney. She also leaves behind six grand children, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Her memorial mass will be celebrated today at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Massasoit avenue, Oak Bluffs. Interment of her cremains will follow in New Westside Cemetery, Robinson Road, Edgartown. Local arrangements are under the care of the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road, Oak Bluffs.
