Leontina Rego Enjoyed Time with Grandchildren
Leontina A. Rego of Oak Bluffs died on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Martha's Vineyard Hospital. She was 86. She was the widow of Charles C. Rego, who died in 1976.
Mrs. Rego was born in New Bedford on Feb. 27, 1919, to Joseph and Maria (Mederios) Almedia. She attended New Bedford schools and worked in the city her entire life. She moved three years ago to Martha's Vineyard to live near her daughter, Janice Duart of Oak Bluffs. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in New Bedford. She enjoyed spending her time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by her brother, Joseph Almedia of North Dartmouth; her sister, Alice Harrison of North Dartmouth; five grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased in 1970 by her son, Kenneth C. Rego.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. in St. John's Cemetery on Allen street in New Bedford.
