Helen Readdy Hamilton Was Devoted to Church
Helen Readdy Hamilton of Columbia, S.C., died Nov. 27.
She was born on August 24, 1916, in Walterboro, S.C., the daughter of the late William Madison Readdy and Rosa Gates Readdy of Walterboro.
Mrs. Hamilton spent most of her adult life in New York and later Massachusetts, where she was employed by and was a devout member of the First Church of Christ Scientist for more than 30 years before retiring to Columbia.
Mrs. Hamilton was predeceased by her husband, the late Warren R. Hamilton; two brothers, Roy Gates and Paul Madison Readdy; and two sisters, Martha Readdy Poyner and Evelyn Readdy Culp.
She is survived by her sister in law, Norma Readdy of Boston, and a host of nieces and nephews in Massachusetts, California, New Hampshire, Washington, D.C., Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio and South Carolina.
Memorial services were held at noon on Thursday, Dec. 1, in the Leevy's Funeral Home Chapel in Columbia, S.C.
