Steven Borer, 58, Was Longtime Island Dentist
Dr. Steven Borer of Leominster, formerly of West Tisbury, died unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 17, in Wellington, Fla.
He was born Sept. 12, 1947 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Harry and Edith Borer. After graduating from Temple University in Philadelphia, he received his dentistry degree from New York University, specializing in Pedodontics. He had dental practices in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and Vineyard Haven. He enjoyed helping children and adults, especially as a Hospice volunteer. Following retirement, he enjoyed traveling, painting, hiking, and reading historical novels.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Carol, of 38 years of marriage; his mother Edith and Larry Ginsberg, of Coconut Creek, Fla.; his daughter Hail and husband Joshua Black, of Millbury; his son Daniel and companion Caroline Bonnivier of North Adams; his sister Randi and husband Rich Cosola of Wellington, Fla.; his brother Jerry and wife MaryEllen Borer of Great Neck, N.Y.; his pride and joy grandson, Jake Black, and his faithful companion, Sammy.
Services were held at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, Boynton Beach, Fla., with Rabbi Bukaitz officiating. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Martha's Vineyard, P.O. Box 2549, Oak Bluffs, MA 02557.
