H. Williamson Ghriskey Was Investor, Yachtsman

H. Williamson Ghriskey of Greenwich, Conn., died peacefully at home on March 6. He was the loving husband of the late Flora Roberts Ghriskey.

Mr. Ghriskey was born Oct. 16, 1912, in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of Charles and Lillian Ghriskey, and brother of Susan and Lillian.

He was graduated from Episcopal Academy in 1930, from Princeton University in 1934 and Harvard Business School in 1936. He was a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy, serving in First Boston Company from 1936 to 1942.

He was president of Neville, Rodie and Shaw from 1947 to 1978, and vice chairman of Trainer Wortham from 1978 to 1988. Afterward he went to work as managing director of Trainer Wortham, a job he held until the time of his death. Mr. Ghriskey was a great investor, and a trusted counsel to his clients and to all who knew him.

He was also former chairman and president of the Investment Counsel Association of America. He served formerly on the boards of the Hartridge School, Pingry School, St. Barnabas Church and the Edgartown Yacht Club, which he also served as commodore and longtime treasurer. He was a member of Round Hill Club and Racquet & Tennis Club.

He is survived by his children, Susie, Bill, Marcia, Timothy and Gigi, 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service has been scheduled for Friday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at St. Barnabas Church.
