Roland F. Clements, 79, Was Air Force Veteran

Roland F. Clements (Clem) of Bella Vista, Ark., and formerly of Martha's Vineyard died March 3, with his family at his bedside, after a brave battle with cancer. He was 79 years old.

Clem was born in Boston on Sept. 18, 1926, to Albert Rivers Clements and Blanche Bernier.

Clem was a veteran of World War II and Vietnam, retiring from the Air Force after 31 years of military service. He was stationed throughout Europe and the United States and served two tours of duty in the Vietnam.

He was an active parishioner of Bella Vista Community Church.

He was also an avid golfer and card player, with many golfing and card playing buddies who praised him for his honesty and caring attitude. He was an unselfish individual who always went out of his way to ensure everyone's needs were always satisfied. He touched many lives and will be remembered as a true friend to everyone.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Christel; two sisters, Margie Davenport of New Bedford and MaryAnn White of Tampa, Fla.; daughter and son in law Trixie and Charlie Arnold of Bella Vista, Ark.; son and daughter in law Roger and Gai Clements of York, Me., and five grandchildren, Kristina and Danielle Clements, Nicole Arnold and Jeremiah and Rochelle Arnold.

He was predeceased by four brothers Al, Benny, Guy and Percy, and a sister, Alice.

A memorial service to celebrate his life was held March 6 at Bella Vista Community Church in Bella Vista, Ark. The Rev. Dick Lindman, a close friend of the family, officiated.
