Edmund R. Topham, 60, Was Engineer for Verizon

Edmund R. (Ted) Topham of Randolph and Edgartown died unexpectedly March 16 at the Boston Medical Center. He was 60 years old.

The son of the late Robert C. and Barbara F. (Foley) Topham, Mr. Topham was a lifelong resident of Randolph. He was graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School and the Wentworth Institute of Technology.

He was an engineer for Verizon for 40 years, retiring five years ago. He was also a master sergeant in the Massachusetts Air National Guard for 36 years, retiring in February 2006. He was an avid skier and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Laura R. (Jeffery); daughter Kristin L.M. Homze and her husband, Stephen, of Randolph; daughter Denise H.J. Topham-Williams and her husband, Steven, of Peabody; son Andrew E. Topham and his wife, Natalie, of Augusta, Ga.; grandchildren Nicholas H.K. Homze, Lucas E. Williams and Ashley M. Topham; and brothers William J. of Needham, Paul R. of East Bridgewater, David F. of Hanson and John T. of Mansfield. He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Randolph. Services are scheduled for Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Hurley Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
