Lisa L. Stone, 43, Owned Vineyard Boutique Chica

Lisa Lynn Stone of Edgartown died peacefully Sunday, Feb. 19, at home with her loving family by her side. She was 43.

Lisa was born in Worcester, attended the Bancroft School and was graduated from Doherty Memorial High School in 1981. In 1985 she received her bachelor's degree in art history from Tufts University. Following graduation, she worked as an advertising executive for R.H. Macy, Inc., in New York city.

Lisa later returned to Massachusetts and settled on the Vineyard, where she had spent many happy summer vacations in her youth. She worked as a sales manager for Claudia in Edgartown until 1990, and in 1992 received her master's degree in business from Boston University. Lisa then moved to Boulder, Colo., to become head of operations at Alpine Designs, a manufacturer and designer of ski clothing. In 1994 Lisa fulfilled her lifelong dream of owning a business when she purchased Chica, an Island shop specializing in clothing, folk art and jewelry. With Lisa's unique sense of style and fashion, Chica became an award-winning boutique.

Lisa is survived by her brothers, Jeffery J. Stone of Gloucester, N. Neal Stone of Suffern, N.Y., Marshall M. Stone of Boca Raton, Fla., and David D. Stone of Falmouth, Me., and her lifelong friend, Catherine O'Leary Ashmun of Edgartown.
