Constance E. Jackson Summered in East Chop

Constance E. Cordice Jackson of Marshfield and Oak Bluffs died March 31 at Jordan Hospital in Marshfield after a short illness.

Members of the Cordice family have long been summer residents of Oak Bluffs. Connie and her brother, Richie Cordice, fell in love with the Vineyard as children and spent many wonderful years at the house that Richie built of logs on Winnemack avenue in East Chop.

Connie was born in Winchester and was graduated from West Virginia State University and later from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she received a master's degree. She earned her doctoral degree in English from Boston University. She met her future husband, Eugene Jackson of Portland, Me., while attending classes at Boston University. They were married for more than 50 years.

She worked for many years as a reading specialist for the Marshfield school system.

She was also an avid Boston Celtics fan and rarely missed an opportunity to relax and watch them play.

Connie was the last surviving sibling of the Cordice family. In addition to her beloved husband, Gene, Connie is survived by her cousins, Janet Williams of Duxbury and Donald and Georgette Williams of New York city and Oak Bluffs.

Interment was at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Contributions in Constance's memory may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 229 Highland street, Marshfield Hills, MA 02051, or to the Boston University School of Education.
