Lucretia Gould Walsh, 76, Summered in Oak Bluffs

Lucretia Gould Walsh, who spent her summers on the hill overlooking the Oak Bluffs harbor, died May 26 at her home in Altamonte Springs, Fla. She was 76.

Cre, as she was called, was an avid swimmer. She was diving champion in the under-14 category at the East Chop Beach Club at the age of six (summer of 1936). She attended the Northfield School and Simmons College and lived in Pasadena, Calif., for most of her adult life.

In 1996 Cre was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Albert J. Walsh. She was also predeceased by her mother, Amy Neeley Gould, and six siblings, George, Nancy, Lidorra, Edwin, Bradford and Elizabeth. The cottage on Greenleaf avenue has been owned by the Gould family since around the turn of the century. When not on the Vineyard, the Gould family lived in Worcester.

Cre is survived by two daughters, Holiday and Heather Walsh of central Florida, and one son, Bruce Andrew Walsh of Rhode Island. Two nieces, Louisa and Dorothy Gould, reside full-time on the Vineyard.
