James Simpson, 72, Was Veteran of World War II

James J. (Jay) Simpson of Onset, formerly of Cambridge, died at the Forestview Nursing Center in Wareham on April 24. He was 79.

Born in Cambridge, he was graduated from Saint John's High School and was a longtime Cambridge resident. He worked as a manager for the welfare department. He also served in the Army during World War II.

He was predeceased by his parents, James and Julia Simpson. He is survived by his dear friend, Rose Souweine of Buzzards Bay, and also many cousins.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, April 28, at St. John's Church in Cambridge. Interment was at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Watertown. Arrangements were under the care of Keefe Funeral Home in Cambridge.
