Doris Belisle Was Active with St. Andrew's Church
Doris Evelyn Keenan Belisle, most recently of Woodside Village in Oak Bluffs, but formerly of Edgartown, died Tuesday, June 27, at the Harborside Healthcare Center in Falmouth. She was 80.
She was born in Milton on Nov. 29, 1925, the daughter of Kathleen Vincent and J. Barry Keenan.
She was educated in the Milton Schools and Burroughs Business School in Boston. She worked as a bookkeeper at Crane Company in Boston and General Electric in Brookline.
As a child, Doris spent happy summers between her grandparents' home on School street in Edgartown and the family camp on Pennywise Hill, across from the Lily Pond in Edgartown.
In 1946 she married Linwood Belisle at the Church of Our Savior in Milton. Her married life was spent in Edgartown, where she was active in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
Her husband predeceased her in November 2004, and her son, Ralph Vincent Belisle, who was born in 1948, died in 1992 in Florida.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Pedersen, and her husband, Geir Egil Pedersen, of Sydeberg, Norway, and her grandchildren, Jessica, Annika, Andre, Jonathan, William and Regina.
Also surviving her is a sister, Shirley K. Powers, and her husband, Clinton, of Penney Farms, Fla., and East Chop; her nieces, Judith Kitchin, and her husband, Chris, of Edgartown, Pamela Lockhart and her son, Charles Vincent Lockhart, of Lexington, Ky.; her nephews, William Erickson and his wife, Beth, of Edgartown, and Richard Erickson of Ipswich and Edgartown.
Her memorial service will be held in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church on North Summer street in Edgartown on Thursday, July 13, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Edmunds officiating. Interment will be private.
