Ruth E. Wray-Siple Was Proprietor of Taxi Service
Ruth E. (Auntie) Wray-Siple died on Saturday, July 1, at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of Douglas F. Siple for 37 years and the mother of Kristin Siple Mathias. She was the daughter of James H. Wray Sr. of Oak Bluffs and Somerset. She was predeceased by her mother, Ruth Edna Wray, and her brother, James H. Wray Jr. of Oak Bluffs.
Ruth was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School in Fall River, Class of 1961. She attended nursing school in Gloucester and worked for the state of Massachusetts for 14 years at Taunton State Hospital. Ruth had been the proprietor of Marlene's Taxi Service for the last 20 years. She was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Ruth is survived by her son in law, Steven Mathias, and her grandson, Zachary Steven Mathias; her brother, William J. Wray, and his wife, Kathleen, of Edgartown; a sister, Marilyn Valcourt of Fall River; two sisters in law, Margaret (Peggy) Wray of Oak Bluffs and Nancy Siple of Rhode Island; and a brother in law, Robert A. Siple Jr. of Rhode Island. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Jennifer Wray Gibb and Jeffrey A. Wray of Oak Bluffs, Laurie Wray Turney of West Tisbury, Stephanie Wray Schecter of Somerset; Jamie L. Valcourt and Jill Valcourt Newcomer of Fall River, Candace Siple Collins and Robert A. Siple 3rd of Rhode Island and Kimberly Martin of Somerset. Ruth was the great-aunt of seven nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
