Timothy Hazelton, 25, Was Avid Outdoor Sportsman

Timothy R. Hazelton of New Britain, Conn., died unexpectedly on Monday, July 10, as a result of an accident. He was 25.

Tim was born on March 11, 1981, in Hartford, Conn., to Laurie Ann McPherson and Timothy H. Hazelton of Newington, Conn. He was graduated from Newington High School, Class of 1999, and attended the Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston, where he studied to be an electrician.

While in high school, he was a member of the football and basketball teams. In the afternoons after high school he loved the humor of Bart Simpson. At the time of his death he was accumulating hours toward his electrical license and also roofing.

Tim had an incredible zest for life. He enjoyed skiing, snowboarding, water sports - especially sailing - and all sports that involved the outdoors and adventure. He loved his beach time at his family's home on Sengekontacket Pond on the Vineyard, especially fishing, clamming and diving off the big bridge. He also loved camping out in his RV and music, and attended many indoor and outdoor concerts with all of his buddies.

Tim-Dog, as his friends called him, will be missed by the many friends who loved him: Tony (Wicked) Grano, Beeper, his roommate, Charlie and the 709 crew, especially Danielle and dog Sage. A good and helpful son and friend, he leaves a big hole in the hearts of his mother, family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Laurie Hazelton of Newington; his father, Timothy Hazelton; his uncle and godfather, Rob McPherson of Boston; his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Sidney R. McPherson of Cotuit; his godmother, Kathryn Winkeler, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Lenore G. McPherson, and his aunt, Nancy Hazelton.

Timmy is keeping others alive through his tissue and organ donations. Memorial calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., followed immediately by a memorial service at the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home in West Hartford, Conn.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Tim's memory may be made to the Friends of Sengekontacket Inc., P.O. Box 740, Edgartown, MA 02539.
