Danice Dale Phillips, 66, Was Switchboard Operator

Danice Dale Phillips, a longtime Island resident of Oak Bluffs, died after a prolonged illness on Feb. 22. She was 66. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Josephine Phillips, also of Oak Bluffs.

Danice was born April 29, 1939. She worked as the switchboard operator at the Martha's Vineyard Hospital for several years. She traveled extensively in her life and settled in her later years in Elmira, N.Y., where she lived with her ex-husband and companion, Wilkin Bordelon, who cared for her in the final year of her life.

She is survived by a brother, Daniel Phillips of Oak Bluffs, her five children, Jeanne Crosby Zuzel, formerly of Oak Bluffs and now residing in Norwalk, Conn., Christopher Bordelon of Schreiver, La., Renae Linde of Brockton, Edward Bordelon of Mansfield and Nicole Dent of Damden, S.C., and their families.

A service in her honor was held Wednesday, July 19, at Or Lady Star of the Sea Church in Oak Bluffs. Donations in her memory may be made to Connected Hearts.
