Claire E. Rollins, 72, Was Leader at School for Blind

Claire E. Rollins of Venice, Fla., died August 21. She was 72.

Mrs. Rollins was born Jan. 24, 1934, in Jamaica, N.Y., and came to Venice three years ago from Barrington, Ill. She was a fifth generation visitor to the Island, and was the sister in law of John Rollins of Oak Bluffs

She worked in Northbrook, Ill., in the retail industry for many years. She was the past president of the Infant Welfare organization and vice president of the Hadley School for the Blind, both of Illinois. She was of the Catholic faith.

Mrs. Rollins is survived by her husband, Paul; four sons, Paul Jr. of Chatham, N.J., Peter of Burlington, Vt., Mark of Manhattan, N.Y., and John of Mendham, N.J.; one daughter, Mary Beth Bletsas of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, John Hoertz of Sarasota, Fla., and Paul Hoertz of Huntington, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 25, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Osprey, Fla.
