James Rolston, 82, Was U.S. Marine, Carpenter

James Howard Rolston died on August 24 with his children and grandchildren at his bedside.

He was born on April 21, 1924, the son of James Howard Sr. and Ida Mae O'Healey Rolston. He was a retired carpenter and also an avid gardener.

Mr. Rolston served in the Marines during World War II and the Korean War.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara Jane Gregg Rolston, and his sister, Gloria Mae Murgida.

Mr. Rolston is survived by a son, James Kenneth Rolston Sr., and two daughters, Doreen Marie Cartwright and Diane Elizabeth Duart, and his grandchildren, Sean Michael Duart, Joanne Elizabeth Rolston, James Kenneth Rolston Jr. and Patrick Brian Rolston. He also leaves behind many furry loved ones.

A private graveside service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne with full military honors.

A celebration of Mr. Rolston's life will be held on Sunday, Sept. 24, at noon at the Portuguese-American Club on Vineyard avenue in Oak Bluffs.
