Grant Myles Kenny, 20, Was Gentle Off Ice Rink
Grant Myles Kenny, 20, of Lebanon, Conn. and Edgartown, who was born Nov. 28, 1986, died Dec. 29 with his family by his side.
Although Grant battled courageously throughout almost three years of treatment and therapy, he finally succumbed to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on March 2, 2004.
At the time of the accident, Grant was a senior at Lyman Memorial High School.
He was the captain of the school hockey team and a passionate, lifelong hockey player who truly loved the game. While his physical, relentless brand of play was popular with his classmates and the fans at the Bolton Ice Palace, off the ice he was a gentle son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend.
Grant grew up in Lebanon, a small town where he formed many tight friendships. From an early age, he enjoyed winter skating on the town green. He was an avid snowboarder and enjoyed sharing many mountain adventures with his friends.
He also enjoyed listening to country music and working on cars. Grant loved to fish with his father, ride his bikes, and spend summers with family and friends on Martha's Vineyard.
Grant's enthusiasm, sense of humor and passion for life touched all who knew him. His smile was ever-present and contagious. He found joy in the simple things and truly enjoyed each day. His life was filled with love, laughter and true friendship.
Survivors include his parents, Christopher and Donna Kenny of Lebanon, Conn.; his sister, Maura Kenny, of Lebanon, Conn.; his maternal grandparents, Ronald and Karen Lindlauf of Glastonbury, Conn.; his paternal grandparents, Maurice and Maureen Kenny of Naples, Fla.; his aunt and uncle, Patricia and Ronald Lindlauf of Glastonbury, Conn., as well as his beloved cousins Will, Maire and Teddy; his aunt and uncle, Diane and David Arnett of St. Augustine, Fla. and cousins Ryan Arnett and Stephanie Potter of Boston and Courtney Arnett of West Hartford, Conn.; his uncle, Martin Kenny and his wife, Angela Kenny, as well as cousins Patrick, Kevin and Mallory of Wethersfield, Conn.; his aunt, Jane Ammodio and her husband, Frank; his aunt, Claire Kenny of Naples, Fla.; his aunt and uncle, Tara and John Young of Walpole, Conn. and cousins Jack and Maurice; and numerous friends.
Grant also leaves behind many wonderful caregivers who provided tireless love and support which enhanced his quality of life after the accident.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Lebanon, Conn. Interment followed in the Exeter Cemetery, Lebanon, Conn.
