Theodore Scott Stafford, 22, Dies in Truck Accident

Theodore Scott Stafford of Ypsilanti, Mich., and West Tisbury died Feb. 25 in Ypsilanti in a tragic accident in his beloved truck just 11 days before his 23rd birthday.

Those who knew him will remember Ted for his generosity, his warm spirit and his amazing ability to spin a tale. A natural-born storyteller with an insatiable curiosity, he entertained all with his knowledge and wit. Teddy was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his mother, Joanne Scott and her partner Lisa Fraiberg of Ann Arbor, Mich.; his father, Robert Stafford and his wife, Patience Sampson, of Boston and Friendship, Me.; his brother, Benjamin Stafford and his partner, Katie Goodwin, of Wilmington; his sister, Tabor Stafford and her partner, Chris Bent, of Boston; his sister, Blair Brennan and her partner, Jeremiah Swain, of Ypsilanti, Mich; a nephew, Benjamin K. Stafford of Wilmington; grandmothers Gertrude Hannon Coffey Scott of Hingham and Ann Arbor, Mich. and Phyllis Bullock Stafford of Suffield, Conn.; stepsisters Katherine Kowal and Jenetta Stringfellow; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends; and his cat, Buddy.

His grandfathers, Jack Scott and Al Stafford, predeceased him.

Ted's ashes will be laid to rest early next week in West Tisbury.
