Edgartown Mass Saturday for Actress Ann Valentine

Ann Marie Valentine, 91, of Hampden Township, Pa., formerly of LaPorte, Ind., died peacefully in the arms of her daughter, Judy, with her son-in-law John nearby, while being given the last rites of the Catholic Church on March 12 at Stonebridge Health and Rehabilitation, Duncannon, Pa.

Born April 23, 1915 and raised in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late William and Agnes Doyle Tevnan.

Ann lived most of her life in LaPorte, Ind., where she lovingly raised her family. Her working career ranged from personal shopper to receptionist to orthodontic assistant. She was active in many civic clubs and organizations and a member of St. Peter's Catholic church.

A talented and gifted person, her many interests included baking, cooking, needlework, sewing, antiquing, house plants, and entertaining her family and many friends.

Her most consuming and favorite activity, however, was appearing on stage as an amateur actress. During her lifetime, she appeared in more than 100 theatrical productions.

A loving and generous person that made friends wherever she went, Ann will be missed by family and friends for her open door, lovely, smiling face and quick Irish wit.

Ann was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Anthony Valentine, in 1999.

Survivors include her daughter, Judith A. Valentine and her husband, John W. Osborn of Hampden Township, Pa. and Edgartown; her son, Paul T. Valentine and companion Betsy Pyne of El Cajon, Calif.; her granddaughter, Dr. Valentine M. Osborn and her husband Bradford Lipman of Silver Spring Township, Pa.; her grandson, Timothy W. Osborn and his wife Jen of Enola, Pa; a great-grandaughter, Sarah M. Lipman; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial, originally scheduled for last Saturday but postponed, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. tomorrow at St. Elizabeth's Church in Edgartown. Interment will follow at Edgartown Cemetery.
