Raymond L. Gasnick of Edgartown and Newton died March 15.

Born in Omaha, Neb., he graduated from Creighton University. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of Korean War.

Mr. Gasnick was ever-optimistic, but perennially frustrated by "the big one" that got away. He loved the Vineyard.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret (Maggie) Chapman Gasnick; three children, Molly Gasnick Moncreiff of Newton, Daniel Gasnick of Brighton and Sheila Gasnick of Newton; a brother, Joseph Gasnick of Omaha, Neb.; two grandchildren, Christopher and Colette Moncreiff; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass was celebrated March 19 at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Newton. Interment was private.

Memorial donations in Raymond's name would be appreciated. They may be made to Sojourner House Inc, 85 Rockland street, Roxbury, MA 02119 or to Hospice of Martha's Vineyard, P.O. Box 2549, Oak Bluffs, MA 02557.
