Lawrence Robert Enos died March 29, 2007 in the town of Sulligent, Lamar County, Ala. He was 60.

He was born Nov. 26, 1946 in Oak Bluffs, the son of John Joseph Enos and Matilda Grace Medeiros Enos. He attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in childhood and the New Center Point Freewill Baptist Church as an adult. Mr. Enos was graduated from the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School in 1964, where he played golf and was a black belt in karate.

Mr. Enos owned and operated several businesses in Dukes County and in Lamar County, Ala. He loved Elvis Presley and was well-known for his Elvis Presley-style sideburns.

Mr. Enos marched in the Portuguese-American parade, where he carried the Portuguese flag along side of his father, John, carrying the American flag. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, especially his Triumph 500 in earlier years and his Honda that he rode up until four weeks before his death. Larry was also an avid sportsman in both fish and game.

Survivors include his son, Scott Joseph Enos Amaral of West Tisbury; a daughter, Sheryl Marie Enos of West Tisbury; his grandchildren, Richard Lupo, Jr., Daniel Defoe, Ryan Amaral and Michelle Amaral; a stepson, Jay Leonardo of Sumerton, Ala.; a stepdaughter, Kim Leonardo of Edgartown; several step-grandchildren; a brother, John Correia and his wife, Ione, of Albany, Ore.; two cousins, Patrisha Suchy and her husband, James of Pensacola, Fla. and Anna Duarte of Oak Bluffs.

His parents and brother, Robert Lawrence Enos, predeceased him.

An interment service will be held Wednesday, August 22 at 1 p.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery, Pacific avenue, Oak Bluffs. The Rev. Alden Besse will officiate. A celebration of his life will follow in the Portuguese-American Club from 2 to 4 p.m.
