Mary Metell Bender, 89, of Palm Coast, Fla. died Wednesday at the Florida Hospital in Palm Coast.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gustav A. Bender. She was the mother of Robert, Richard and Steve Bender.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Massasoit avenue, Oak Bluffs. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineyard avenue, Oak Bluffs.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, Oak Bluffs. Donations may be made in her memory to the Cape Cod and Islands Alzheimer's Association, 265 North Main street, South Yarmouth, MA 02664.
