Earl J. Hayden, 83, of Westfield died June 23.

Born in Westfield, he was member of the Wyben Union Church. The Haydens were summer residents of Edgartown.

Earl was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge of Westfield, and a past patron of the Golden Chapter of the Eastern Star. He was a graduate of the Massachusetts Trade Shop School in Boston. He was employed for 40 years as a electrical contractor, retiring in 1989. Earl also served as the electrical inspector of the town of Montgomery.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Elsie Sternberg Hayden; a son, Wallace E. Hayden II of Westfield; two daughters, Frances Wackerbarth of Granville and Clara Pinkham of Rochester Hills, Mich.; his sister, Eloise Adair of Westfield; 11 grandchildren, Christopher, Dawn, Tiffany, Charles, Cassandra, John, Mark, James, Sara, Nicholas and Lydia; and five great-grandchildren.

Interment was in Middle Farms Cemetery in Westfield. Donations may be made to the Wyben Union Church, 678 Montgomery Road, Westfield, MA 01085.
