Charles Thomas Coyle of Wellesley and Oak Bluffs died Jan. 8. He was 84.

Mr. Coyle was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Coyle High School in Taunton, the New England School of Podiatry in Boston, Boston University School of Education and Framingham State College.

He was a teacher. He also was a principal of the Sprague and Upham schools, Wellesley. He shared his musical gifts with the Needham Retired Men’s Glee Club and the Vineyard Haven Band.

Survivors include his wife, Rita M. Miller Coyle; his children, Susan C. Myers and her husband Donald H. of West Hartford, Conn., Charles T. (Tom) Coyle Jr. of Wellesley, Mark M. Coyle and his wife Lisa M. of Brookfield, Conn., Lynne A. Charron and her husband Thomas W. of Wellesley, and Tara C. Urban and her husband David J. of Potomac, Md.; his grandchildren, Brendan Myers, Ryan Coyle, Michael Coyle, Daniel Coyle, Alexandra Charron, Cameron Charron, and Nicholas Urban; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; his brother, Edward Coyle of Delray Beach, Fla.; and his sister, Connie Yerid of Mashpee and Riviera Beach, Fla.

A brother, Joseph Coyle, and a grandchild, Douglas Myers, predeceased him.

A funeral mass is scheduled for St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley at 10 a.m today, Friday, Jan. 11. Interment is set for Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made in honor of his deceased grandson to the Douglas J. Myers Scholarship Fund, in care of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, 10 Columbus boulevard, 8th Floor, Hartford, CT 06106.
