Elizabeth (Betty) S. Bugbee, 88, of Weymouth died Jan. 28 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston.
She was born in Boston on Oct. 29, 1919 to Grace S. and Joseph H. Hogan.
She was raised in Forest Hills, and moved to Weymouth with her husband and their six children in 1952. She was a person of deep faith, and a long-time communicant at Immaculate Conception Church of East Weymouth.
She was a member and past president of the Weymouth Newcomers Club for fifty years. Betty was an avid reader, and wrote often to a wide circle of family and friends. She often gave a helping hand without asking for recognition.
Betty was the wife of the late Fred J. Bugbee.
Survivors include four daughters, Elaine Meuse of East Bridgewater, Suzanne and her husband Hugh McCallum of Key Largo, Fla., and Plymouth, Marie and her husband Dr. Peter Laursen of Vineyard Haven, and Janet and her husband Dean Cushing of East Bridgewater; two sons, Arthur and his wife Kathy of Warner, N.H., and David and his wife Patricia Bugbee of Plympton; her sister Mary Stanton of Hyde Park; and her brother, the Rev. William D. Hogan S.S.J. of Baltimore, Md. She was the dear friend of Muriel Savoy-Moloney of Weymouth. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, including Timothy, Christopher, and Emily Laursen, of Vineyard Haven, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
