Carlton J. Condon died at his home on the Vineyard on Feb. 19. He was 89.

He was predeceased by his wife Mady in 2004.

He was born in Boston, graduated from Springfield College in 1940, and during World War II was a lieutenant on the destroyer USS Parker. 

He was in advertising sales with Gannett Newspapers, White Plains, N.Y.

After retiring Carl and Mady traveled and enjoyed the Vineyard and their many friends.

Carl celebrated with his Red Sox when they won the World Series, and always looked forward to playing golf with his friends, the “noonies,” at Farm Neck.

Survivors include his brother Robert Condon of Denmark, Me.; his children Fred M. Condon of the Vineyard and Jacqueline C. Johnson of Ridgefield, Conn.; and his grandchildren Scott, Sean, Alexis, Mackenzie, Christopher and Matthew.

A private family gathering will be held in the spring.
