Just before midnight on March 4, Patricia Heywood, 61, died in the company of her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Patricia was born in Southington, Conn., on April 12, 1946, and moved with her family, at the age of 15, to Duxbury, where she graduated from Duxbury High School in 1964.

Throughout her life, Patricia created magic wherever she was. She loved spending time in her kitchen and tending to her garden, especially in the loving company of her four grandchildren.

A pioneer in the healing arts, Patricia enjoyed a career in nutritional consulting, where she spread her light and touched the lives of many. Her wisdom, intuition and compassionate nature allowed her to be a source of comfort for all those around her. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her father Joseph DeLowery; her four siblings; three children, Brigid, Duncan and Nathan; her four grandchildren; and a multitude of friends.

Patricia’s love and light will continue on forever, in the hearts of all who she has graced with her presence. In the words of her family: “We love you, Mom.”

A private ceremony will be held in mid-April. Donations in Patricia’s memory may be made to Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard, P.O. Box 2549, Oak Bluffs MA 02557.
