Jeraldine Jane Warsyk Upson of Rehoboth died at Rhode Island Hospital on March 14 after a long and courageous struggle against a chronic disease. She was 60.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of Edward and Barbara Nelson Warsyk.

Jery had lived on Long Island and the Vineyard and in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.

Jery loved nature and adored gardening. She was an avid landscaper and possessed true healing powers when it came to resuscitating ailing plants and homeless animals. Jery was devoted to her children and a talented homemaker.

She especially enjoyed serving as secretary to the Barrington United Methodist Church, subsequently moving to Community Church of Providence.

Jery excelled at graphic design and relished working on different projects, but always took an active interest in the well-being of those around her. Most of all, she treasured the lasting friendships that she formed throughout her rich and active life.

Besides her husband, Dickinson M. Upson, Jeraldine leaves behind two daughters, Caitlin Quinn and Brooke Whitney, both of Rehoboth. She was the sister of Jacqueline Parnell of South Seatauket, N.Y., and Christine Scott Snyder of Vineyard Haven.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jery’s life at a memorial service to be held April 12 at 1 p.m. at the Community Church of Providence.
